How long have you been in business?
Since 1977.
What is your primary product or service?
Speed Reading Plus courses and seminars for the public in Columbus and for the government, military, corporations and associations nationwide. Comprehension and recall strategies are important components.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I became passionate about helping people achieve their education and career goals through better reading when I answered an ad in the paper wanting to hire certified teachers. It was for a speed reading company. When they folded, I joined with some others to form ours. We were too new to support so many of us, so I bought their stock and have been doing it ever since.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We do live in-person instruction to help people change their life time habits of slow reading. We personalize our courses to fit who is taking them.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Currently we have two locations where we hold our classes both in the Columbus area. We plan to develop partnerships overseas to have courses taught in highly technical areas.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, cash and checks. We also offer layaway plans.
Which areas do you service?
People come from all over to take our course here in the Grandview Heights area. We go anywhere in the country for group classes.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Bonnie James does administration and most of the teaching.
Bob James is director of business development.
Angela Starr runs daily operations.
